Any Normal Coolant Leak Areas?

hey, i have a coolant leak that as far as i know comes out of the (or something connected to) the coolant reservoir. i can put coolant in the reservoir and withing a day or two the reservoir will be below the fill line. its been maybe 2 weeks since i have filled in up or ran the car and the reservoir is empty. is there any typical leaking areas around there that leak coolant? thanks

-Chuck

Are you seeing any signs of Coolant under your car? A whole Reservoir of Coolant should be pretty obvious looking.

Have you checked the heater control valve and the short hose?
These are the most failure prone areas.
It is also possible that the coolant bottle has a crack in it.
If the bottle is yellow its time for a new one as well as a new cap and possibly a new level sensor.
To remove the bottle find the coolant line that connects to the bottom of the bottle and then remove this line from the metal hard line paying attention to its orientation. refit the new bottle with this same hose attached and the clamp positioned so it can tightened from under the car if the need arises

it leaks very slowly though. i can see coolant on the ground when the reservoir is full. i cant source the leak because it seems to be coming from a place that i cannot reach from the top of the motor or the bottom of the motor.....

Yeah, mine leaks from my Reservoir. I have a visible crack on top though and I have a replacement but no time. Like Merlin said, is it Yellow or hard to see through the reservoir? It's probably cracked on the bottom.

I had a leak that drove me crazy for a while. I could smell the leaking coolant, but could never figure out where it came from. I would look around while the engine was running and nothing leaked. Shut it off and nothing leaked. Then decided once to rev it up while the car was running with the hood up and coolant shot out. Turns out there was a small hole in the short hose between the engine and heater valve. Under idle it wasn't enough to push through and leak. The leak was shooting in the direction of the reservoir which made me intially think it was the reservoir. Something to check out anyway.
