Ignition distributer question

Hi guys

My camera just broke so I hope you can understand me without any pictures...
I wanted to replace the ignition wires so when I pulled one of the wires from the distributer cap, I saw that it is connected to some sort of a small metal adapter - just like the one you have on the spark plug in the wire connection end.
Basically, the distributer has 9 small threaded rods that on each of them I have this small adapter for the wires I had.

My new OEM wires can not be connected to those small adapters. But, if I unscrew those adapter the wire attaches nicely to the threaded rod.

My question is: Do I have to have some sort of an adapter in order to connect the wires to the distributer? or the wires just connected to the threaded rods without any adapter?
If some one has a picture of the distributer without the wires that I can see how it should be - it will be great!

Thanks!

can you use the old ends on the new wires?? try spraying some silicone on the wire/end junction and fit a thin screwdriver down the wire to let the silicone week into the junction, then it should twist off

No I cant since they are 9mm wire and the connector is bigger in diameter. It would help me to see a picture of the distributer without any wires so I can see how it should be.

Some sets don't come with new ends, they reuse the ones on the old set.

Yeah, well it seems to fit well without any adapter I just think that it is weird that you fit those wires on the threaded rods just like that...

This is not how it is supposed to go, now the dist cap will be exposed to moisture since you probably dont have any boots on the wires , I would do more checking as you may have the wrong set of wires

I'm thinking that you pulled the old wires out of the original ends, and those ends are still stuck in the old dist cap. The original ends on the Beru wires do thread on and off the wires, and friction fit into the caps. Take a look at a new cap and see that the wells are in fact molded-in brass sleeves with no threaded studs. Consider installing the new caps with new rotors to go with, and have all new from coils to plugs.

Dr Bob on the early cars the dist caps have what looks like spark plug tips ( the tip is a threaded stud) in the center of each hole.
The wire connector end is supposed to slide down this stud.

I think that it is all my camera's fault! I will take some pictures of the wires and the cap when it will be fixed.
The wires are new complete set of Beru wires for Porsche 928.
They have the boot and everything. The only question is, if I can connect them to the cap's threaded rods as is, or I have to have some sort of an adapter on those rods.

Mike those are some good pictures thanks for posting them.
The last picture is what goes into the coil and one previous is what you should have on the ends of the wires to connect to the cap
