The alternator belt is a separate part. It is NOT a serpentine belt. But what you need to know is that it is a specific part- it is a ribbed belt and I don't think it is shared with any other car.

With this part, it is important to know the year of your car! The alternator on many 928's was the same, but the pulley and belt were different!

N!

I don't think we need a movie, just the model year so we know what the pulley layout is.

You may need to take all the other belts off the front to put the new alt belt on, so unless they were all in perfect condition I would replace them as well.

Easy to replace, standard tools, belt can be acquired at any parts store, whether its ribbed or V.

it is the ribbed 82us thanks

easy to replace landseer? so then will other belts in front of it have to come off to get to it? No biggy either way just keeping personal damage control down if possible, lol

the movie is dealing with -15 temps now somethings up, winter related or just time to crap on me dont know but

quick strong start runs 3 mins or so--exhaust smokes clears-- starts irraditic idle its set approx 900 (runs awesome) its going 1300-1000 up and down surging slow/fast the engine. Dash dim compared to kicking the pedal reving up holding at 3000 for some secs but doesnt smooth out stays RRR rrr RRR rrr Put into gear 1st and reverse going up down drive a couple times (20-30ft) and stops idling 1000-1300 but now lower meaning under the set 900 more like 700.

So park and running im back out of car at engine listening to steady lower smooth idling wondering if its just going to go lower lower die out but stays going,

and a horrifying sound for 7-10 secs with minutes pause and sounds again.
nothing happens to speed or any change just a sound kicks in. Not a belt squealing - like a dry hollow rub/grind - the alt belt shiny at the rib and skinny and fat not walking on the pulley

replacing alt belt(?would this skinnier of a belt be tightened to its width or to the width play of the teethed ones?) will start up again

any way wanted to post few mins of the host of symptoms. Maybe can help with just this LOL my explaining

the alt belt has to be a bit tighter than the rest of the belts.
The load on the belt will be the most just after the engine is started and idling, so that could be part of the problem.
To be sure though simply remove 0ne belt at a time and run the engine, if after removing all of the belts and you still have a problem then remove the timing belt covers and inspect the belt run
