Put her in the front seat and tell your wife to squeeze in back

There was a thread on this a while back. IIRC some suggestions were given for brands. Do a search of the threads. Most of us just put the wife in back like racer said; seriously.

Yeah, much safer that way too. Just do a search with key words "car seat." The thread is probably about a year old or so.

I posted some info on this issue in the best porsche christmas present topic. I took a grayco car seat, cut the armrests off and did some trimming on the plastic. Then I took the cloth cover to Rayco where they made me a new cover out of the material I had my dash done in. They also sewed a porsche patcg in the headrest area. Looks good.

Really? What if you own a 2-door pick up with no back seat? Then you can have no kids? or a Boxster? Or a Solstice/Sky? Or a Fiero? or a Miata? (etc etc)

I call BS.. nowadays the safety police/nanny intimidate you.

As long as the vehicle does NOT contain a passenger side airbag a car seat can be used in the front. The only time NOT to use one in the front is if the airbag can NOT be turned off. Plain and simple.

This is the one I use:

Great safety rating and narrow base that fits in the seats. One of the only seats on teh market you can actually fit 3 across the rear of a SUV.

Metal frame is a bit heavy but I'd rather it be safe and heavy than otherwise.

Mark, by the time you get your car on the road she won't need a car seat. Heck, she may be driving by then.

I've done the same thing after being unable to find one narrow enough.

This is a good discussion to have occasionally because seats become obsolete all the time.
Searching past threads is going to be useless because whatever was discussed will likely be unavailable now.

OOPS

This might work

Sunshine Kids - Radian65 - Car Seats

As for using older car seats one caution, they have an expiry date.

Many plastics used for safety devices are only certified for so long (typically 6-10 years depending on the manufacturer and material used) from the date of manufacture - hard hats and baby seats included. If your looking at an older seat, please check the expiration date - precious cargo your hauling around there.
