I think someone just asked that question last week. The guys say to just leave it on as too much trouble to remove. Search others on this. What, no pollution in Israel??

I took mine off with no problem the hard part is finding a belt to drive the fan and pluging the hole in the cat. I am about to take my cat off also because oklahoma does not have any inspections so no need for smog pump or cat

On my 88' I capped off the line to the cat..the plumbing from the RT side, I pinched off the line and removed the pump all together. had previously purchased the PKsn'r for my timing belt that did not have the extended bracket to mount a pump regardless. Eitherway, you can remove the pump from the original bracket...Best to you!

The belt you need can vary, if you are keeping the AC, or removing that too, etc.

If you want to bypass the AC and SMOG, run a 4L-20, 1/2" V Belt. This can be purchased from any hardware store. As for the size of the belt keeping the AC in the run(stock belt size), do not have that data. Hope this helps...

4L210 is what worked for me. the 20" one was too short. It varies car to car. Here's my thread and pics:

Smog Pump Delete - What belt size?

You know what Leo, after reading that thread I see I used the 21" as well, the 20" would not fit for me either. Yeah, the 4L-210 was the one I ended up using, the 4L-200 went back, as it again was too snug to get the fan back on. Guess with my motor being the M28/11 that worked for me as well. As you see from that thread some used the 20", so as ya said it is gonna vary from car to car, US to Euro engine, etc.

Hey Leo:
What belt did you end up running back to your AC compressor, that is still in tact and working as AC unit for you correct?

I really can't remember, but isn't the AC Belt "not" used in the Smog Pump Belt? I'm gonna say it was the stock AC Belt.

Yeah, gotcha...
The larger belt went around the SMOG and Fan clutch pulley then crank pulley, the AC belt is a separate belt altogether.

Do you have your AC unit in tact and working??

The AC runs on a separate pully so it does not effect the smog pump belt. As for belt length you can measure the OD of the fan pulley to determine which one you need. if the fan pulley is ~86mm you will need the 20" belt if it is ~106mm you will need the 21" belt.

My Euro is not a real special 928 by all means, but you are 100% invited to go for a Bar Spin. Let us know when you'll be in the area and we'll plan something!
