Few questions for Mason from a new owner

Mason, I purchased a 79 less than a week ago, after 30 years of FL sun the interior needs help. I went shopping on eBay to get an idea of interior parts prices and from what I see you have no desire to sell to newbie 928 owners.

1. absolutely no information contained in your ads.

I almost bought a jack until I noticed on the picture that the tag attached to it said BROKEN. Some parts only fit certain years but a lot of the ads do not state what year they are from and none state what years they fit. Since the ads for interior trim does not say leather, are they all vinyl?

2. same parts listed at 2 different prices.

There are a pair of back seats listed for $99.28, another ad with the same picture is priced at $300. Why?

lower column cover, one for $15 another for $35, whats the difference?

3. Color of parts.

Tan, gray/tan, green/tan, light, unknown. these colors from your ads, which one is champagne or cashmere or cork or linen?

4. Pictures of items.

A blurry out of focus picture of a piece of interior trim does not help me decide if its in better shape than what I have, or is warped like a pretzel, has tears or holes.

These thing might be trivial to a veteran 928 owner that can look at a part and tell its condition, where it goes and what it fits but to a newbie it means I'll have to stick to buying simple things from you like the rear wiper arm you just shipped to me.

I hope you can make your ebay store more user friendly to newbies, I need a lot of parts

thanks

Bob

You should see the head I bought on a eBay auction. All of the top stubs broke, no cam carriers included just a bare dirty head..... LOL It was wrapped in cardboard and cracked while being shipped. I don't care though. I'll practice my dremel skills on it, then add it to my top self of broken engine parts...

My advice is to ask questons. He's a stand-up guy and should help you out.

Hey Roberth58,

I also have an old 928 where the interior needed some TLC. I bought the entire cabin (seat covers, pod cover, new carpets etc. ) from 928leathershop. Robert Budd was a pleasure to work with and the craftmanship is superb. Cost? well, not cheap. Mine is a mix of leather and alcantara, the carpets being the original german quality. I paid 6000 in total.

I will post pictures when I am done with the entire thing.

I agree and give my approval on 928 Leathershop. Rob has great stuff and his prices are reasonable. Paul Champagne is another level way up, but your gonna pay dearly. And his work is first come first served basis and his line is long.

Be forewarned, the Carpet kits are pre-cut but will still require a lot of trimming. Ask me how I know.

Hello Bob,
I appreciate your input. The difference in price is AUCTION vs. FIXED PRICE w/ best offer available to you.

As for the photos, the cameraman had a heart attack not too long ago, and he's working on it. Color description errors, forgive me- we're working with many many parts and trying to maintain a stance as low cost leader- it's not always easy and some errors do occur.... Two years later I'm still tuning our ebay activity- I understand it can be confusing, especially with more than 2000 items.

Jack $15
Jack $15
Jack $50

As some have stated, we will always help you in anyway we can. The best thing to do with 928ww, is e-mail me a list of anything you may need.... and we will quote a delivered price.

I WILL NEVER BE UNDERSOLD BY ANYONE, I stand behind every deal- and welcome input from our highly valued customers ANYTIME.

Kind Regards,
Mason

Lets see, scrap aluminum is 70 cents per lb. if a head weighs 20 lb. and I can buy it for $9.28, how many do you have?

Try Douglas Valley in the UK for interior 928 parts. They have 'taken care of everything' for some time for me. This is in contradiction to 928ww where I have not had good recent dealings. Onceyou hand money over its gone. You MAY get store credit in return......but never cash returned. I have been in dispute with Mason for some time, but he has a problem returning cash, even when he withdraws items after auction ends. BUYER BEWARE. Price is not everything !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the problem with forums, I have seen it on every forum I have ever been on. It gets to the point where you do not even bother with them any more. Some things should be dealt with on a more personal level, IMHO.

Yes agree, in an ideal word these issues woud be resoved by aduts talking issues through. Unfortunately there are people out there that seem to think that they can ride roughshod over customers and they will go away. I only persist to ensure that others on these forums are aware of the facts. They can come to their own conclusions on who is the injured party. The amount of cash I am owed is not significant, but if I can make others aware of the risk then the forum serves its purpose.

The payment from you Steve looked strange, and appeared to have been reversed.... my apologies for your angst. It was unintentional I assure you

" The funds that were placed on temporary hold have been reversed" whatever the heck that means

I think you need the green font....

yeah, I figured the head didn't have valves for that price. I don't care though. I'll use it as for learning how to remove guides and drilling out studs, more like a cheap dummy head.... haha In the feedback i recommend you add more protection then one layer of cardboard. I hope you use that. More happy customers.

Unhappy

I guess I just dont understand, maybe its just the way people are. This is the second time I have used a web forum to discuss something I am interested in and it seems to be polluted with people trying to make points and show people where they think they are wrong. Ive sold on Ebay in the past on a much smaller scale. It is not easy to keep up. I hear a lot of people complaining that the 26 year old part they just bought didnt look like new. Ive bought several used and new parts and my expectations were always the same. If I had a problem with a part from any of the places I dealt with, I would take it up with the seller and not jump into a reputation bash to make myself feel better. I am greatful that there are places like 928 intl, specialists, 928rus, 928ww, pelican parts, etc. Imagine if these places werent here, we would pay dealer cost or talk to some salvage yard who might not know what you are even asking for. I would hope in the future the web forum can be used for people to help others and have fun discusssing their cars.

I agree, lets please use this forum in a pleasant learning way. I am also grateful for the used parts vendors and pelican. Without them, there is no way my ride would be where it is today.

Agreed!
IMVHO...We come to share and help on problems faced by forum members and provide ideas; some just to lerk and learn.

Anyone that has sales/service opportunities or commentary about such should share and help. ONLY.

We can get sensationalism if we look for it; it is all around us everyday!
I do not believe this forum provides /intends YELP like commentary on service/sales quality; we (well I'm not a Pelican rep') just do not have or want to provide good or bad rating of service/sales commentary on THIS forum.

So, lets just help and share!
Jon
