Congrats on the new car.

Drain and flush the fuel tank before filtering out all the junk through your fuel injection system. Then have an eye experienced in the 928 look it over before you turn on the money faucet.

What year is it, and whats the rest like?

Yup, listen to DanglerB. Drop that fuel tank and have it flushed clean. Blow out all your fuel lines (disconnect from the engine area and blow back towards rear).

Gunk is your enemy and 5 year old fuel "WILL" clog it all up. Then your in for more work than originally planned.

replace the fuel lines in the engine compartment a picture of the engine would be a good thing to post.
Also to sort out a bad set of ignition wires, open the hood and run the engine at night looking for the tiny fireflies.
If you see any, then you need new ignition wires.
Dont spray any flammable liquids around the engine while it is running or they can catch fire.
Open the aircleaner make sure that there are no nests in the filter or under it that can also catch fire

You guys are an inspiration! There should be some Nobel prizes handed out around here. Getting a car running that's been sitting for 5 years is nice, you've made something out of nothing.

You are now a fellow custodian of one the true great GT cars. I just bought my second one after years of searching. Between 928's I have owned a few 944's, 944TS, 911 and a 930. The 930 was/is an amazing car but the 928 is still, for me, 'the car'. I drove mine 800kms home, from Melbourne to Adelaide. Comfort plus, mile after mile. Unfortunately good 928's are fading fast. A crying shame.
Welcome and good luck with the car. When it feels like it's all going wrong take a look at her, come on here and look at some of the work others have done, and the finished product, and you will gain more inspiration.

interesting---

I assume (that's dangerous) that you have an '83 Euro/ROW, which would give you a M28/11 or M28/12 4.7L 300 hp with CIS K-JET injection.

CIS K-JET does not enjoy sitting around for any length of time.

very unusual for K-JET to be up and running with no more than a new fuel pump.....

good luck!

Yeah, my K-Jet also worked right off the bat after being down at least 6 years. I guess I've been pretty lucky so far too.
