1.5" Rear Wheel Spacers installed
Well, I broke down and got a set. Installed them today as well as a pair of new Dunlop Direzza Z1's. It got late by the time I was able to install it all, but will chime back in tomorrow after work. I had to pull the Drivers Fender out a little since I heard it rubbing while moving it to it's new parking spot.

Looks great!
Did you have any issues with the wheels fully seating using those lug nuts they included?

I think I need to put each side up on a jack and spin the wheels just to make sure. They seemed flush but you could feel some tension getting them tightened.

Well, lifted the rears and spun the wheels and they turned nice and straight, so off I went for a test drive. It hugged turns so nicely, I can't wait for my first Autocross.

I was really thinking about doing this also. Haven't made up my mind yet. Do you have a before shot for comparison. Would like to see a side by side if possible. I know you have hundreds of pics available!!!!LOL

Is the main purpose for handling? I wonder how much it will improve the handling. Will it put more strain on the wheel bearings? I am just asking.

Dano from the looks of the spacer lugs they might be hitting the rearsides of the phone dials it would be worth a check as you may crack or otherwise damage your wheels normally you would use an open lug to secure the spacer

the open lug with the wider spacer will seat below the wheel seating surface

Hi Merlin, yes, this is why I put the wheels up and spun them to make sure they were spinning straight before I drove it last week. They are already tightened down and if there is damage, it's already done. I found some bolts like you mentioned at Paragon that I am buying soon.

Does anyone make an axle balancer? I'm wondering about the balance of all that rotating mass. We balance our wheels, but we don't balance the drive line. Then adding all that extra mass to the axle will likely increase whatever imbalances are present.
I like the ceramic beads available for tires. Then there's the hollow-ring disk balancers you mount between the hub and the wheel that's loaded with mercury. I think you can buy mercury balancers for long driveshafts. I wonder if there's anything available for the entire half-axle/hub assembly?

the MFG tolerances of the 928 are superior to most other makes of cars so no drive line balance is necessary

It also corners better too with the wider stance.

I suppose I could test my driveline balance state by jacking the car, removing the wheels and spooling up the engine to see if the hubs bounce around or stay centered.

Why?? Are you having vibration issues from the rear? If so, have you verified your wheel balances since you owned the car for such a short period of time?

Nope, I haven't noticed any vibrations from the wheels at all. I'm just curious. ![]()

The spacers are concentric to the rotating stub axle, aluminum, and small enough to not be an issue. If you do decide to do the casual spin test of the half-shafts to the tires, you need to support the car by the suspension to keep the axles at normal angles. Having it on stands at the normal jack points won't tell you anything.
