4 way flasher and turn signals

I have a question regarding the 4 way flasher and turn signals. I have the right relay in there, when I turn on the turn signal on left or right, it lights up on the turn signal display but doesn't flash. I make the corner and the lights go out. I out the four ways on and it doesn't flash, it stays lit but doesnt flash either, the weird thing is I tried the four ways yesterday and forgot about it and went to the store in my van and came back an hour later and they were working. I turned them off and on again and they didn't work. I tried my friends relay and they wouldn't work either. we tried his relay in his car and it worked. Any ideas on what this would be or where to start looking . Thank you

this sounds like a ground problem see if you can add a ground to the relay and test if it works.
As always what was the last thing you fixed is always a good place to start.
Also make sure that all of the bulbs are matching sets dont just put on new bulb in as the newer ones may have different operation voltages so if they are matched then the system should work

thanks for the reply mr merlin, I don't exactly know what you mean to ground a relay, is there a terminal that you ground. I have never done anything in regards to the 4 ways or indicators. does each corner of the car have a ground where the lights are or is there a main ground for the 4 ways and indicators.

on the CE panel there is a slot for the relay that is a ground, if you can remove the relay and see if it is infact grounded
