Same problem here. The speedo gauge doesn't begin to work until I hit about 20-25 mph, then it's fine until the next time I come to a complete stop.
No suggestions on a fix yet, but I'll post it here if I find the culprit. |

Could be a sender problem, 83' 928s auto, as it sounds like it might be a loose wire or connector to the rear of the speedo. Tach works fine I assume?
Iggy - this definitely sounds like a stuck gauge problem. I have a similar one with my VDO tach in my BMW. Sticks and then flys loose. It's spring loaded in there, and might just be stuck until the spring has enough force on it to break it free. If you can, open it up, and place a tiny (really tiny) drop of oil they use for model trains on the inside gears right before the needle. That should free it up... -Wayne

I'll second that
Loose wire on the intermitent speedo. Check the connection in the spare tire well. You should see it come throught gromet right side front of spare tire.
The other prblem sounds like a gear geting ready to go. the little palsic bugger in the speedo. |
