Armrest fix suggestions?

This is so awsome. I was simply losing my door normally and 4 of the 5 plastic holes broke.
Anyone ever do this and come up with a fancy fix, short of replacing the whole armrest?

Bond a strip of 1/16" aluminum to the back of the armrest using JB Weld, redrill the mounting holes and reinstall. Works well....

i know 928 motorsports has a galvanized steel backing plate for these so you dont rip them off of the door.... but you get the typical "Carl's Pricing".... $96 with shipping....

I recall just JB welding the pieces back together and slathering a coat of the stuff on the back for good measure. Worked for me.

did you use any metal doublers??
I usually get thin aluminum sheet and rivet it onto the remaining plastic,
then get over sized washers and replace the smaller factory washers.
Some JB welded pictures would be nice to see

Now that I think about it I think I also JB welded in a washer at each hole. JB weld is like adding new plastic to it. That car is long gone now, so hard to check it out.

I just bought a set from Rob Budd $ 79.00 for set.
Classic 9 Leather Shop: Brackets Nuts Bolts
Mine in the '85 were cracked badly and it strengthened them nicely. Plus Rob's is a good guy, always had good luck with his work.

Gotta agree with that statement. Can't go wrong dealing with Rob.
