Passenger Window problem. No up or down.

What is the best way to trace an electrical issue or to clean any contacts that may stop the passenger windows on both 85 and 86 928's? Thanks... Neither work and both switches are new. With experience on this forum-Electrical problem or motors?

Start with the easy things first - fuses. There are seperate fuses for the d/p windows. 30amp each. Could be the plug on the motor in the door. Take the door card off and test the motor with 12v. Could be broken wires in the rubber bellow between the door and body.. Loads of things really

Actually, its a shared fuse #15 and a shared relay.

Since driver's side works, its probably then inside the wiring as Ribner described or in passengers motors.

They get wet and suffer from hard grease drag and corrosion.

There is a hidden thermal trigger breaker inside as described by wally plumley. (shows on wiring diagram as a little squiggle line in the motor circuit representation)

There is a writeup on rennlist with some pictures.

Before you take it apart, you could disconnect the 18pin connector up above the computers (for the door wires) and probe certain ones with your electrical meter while operating the switch. That would confirm the circuits at least up to the entry to the doors.

Grey/blue also Grey/brown wires representing terminals 1 and 2 at that connector.

take the arm/ motor out of the door,
take it apart and clean and lubricate all of the parts,
your motor will last a long time if you do this ,
unless it has burned up from over stress of corroded internals

I had to look it up, too. You got the amps right --- that's what I was searching to verify. That's a lot of power.
