Air Pump Years ? 928 1980

Hello All :
Wondering if my year had a Air Pump and what ever comes with it .
Well Yes Smog City , whats needed License .
My 1980 928 US I believe has no Air Pump on it . I see no place to mount a Air Pump or a belt slot for it. I see one listed in the Porsche Manual that I thought covers the 1980 to 1982 models ?. My Motor number is M28/13 then underneath that number is number 8100038 . Car Build date is 8/79 .
Has a California EPA sticker under the hood so I gather then the car is a US model ?

Note: Car seems to have all the other stuff ? like Catalytic converter ( looks like 2 of them ? ) and a rear Muffler with single Exhaust , all looking Original.
The Car looks like it never had any Air Pump on it.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows if the 1980 US Model Requires a air Pump or not?

I do not believe so on the m28/13...look at the smog configuration sticker on the hood...

Air Pump I believe is above the AC Compressor. If it's a US Model and with an Calif EPA Decals then it had to have an Air pump on it at some time. Post a pic of the passenger side of the Engine (top). You should have a long metal tube connecting to a Diverter Valve then it goes down the firewall and it connects to the back of the passenger side head or your Cat Converters.

That's where it is on my car...thanks for the good info, as always.

Pet (my old pdf) seems to reflect ending at m28/12, from the the way I read it (-12). But I don't use the terminal date info from it often and I didn't look for the instructions...

'80 USA did not have an airpump (only USA engine w/o one). They came with a euro belt tensioner pulley. '81-up had a different emissions standard so the airpump came back.

Note CIS engines have air injected into the exhaust ports, not the cats.

Thanks Much :-)
Here is the Sticker on the hood I see no mention of a air pump ? is that what I am looking for ? or am I on the wrong track Perhaps ?
( Just what is the M28/13 Motor anyway ? just a standard 1980 Motor ? )
Would the Air Pump be listed here Perhaps ?
DSC07241
Other side of the sticker ( took in 2 shots to view / read closer )
DSC07240
That would be Great if I need no Pump !
I expect with a Pump some sort of air injection Lines run in to perhaps each cylinder or the manifold ? . I see no Plugs as if perhaps it was removed .

Your hood diagram doesn't show one, which is good for the operating assumption. And even better is Porken's comment, he knows model years and lots...

Wow you guys are great !
Thanks MP Dano > I see no Metal Tube Running from back of the Passenger side head Rear then down . I see nothing blocked off . I well Look very closely tomorrow is quite cold out today and about to rain.
************************************************
Thanks porken: ( this is looking good )
My "tensioner pulley" look exactly as in your Great Photo ! and is in that exact place .
So look's as if this Car did not come with a Air Pump . I well look carefully tomorrow and post my findings .
My Wife just reminded me the seller told me the car "passed Smog" , however that was a long time ago as the car has been sitting until I got it. Does not mean someone did not remove something later also perhaps ?
I shall Inspect for any Smog tubes running down to the Cat's . I may have 2 not sure ? the first one has the Oxygen Sensor on it, Then another what looks like a Cat behind it , then to the rear Muffler back by the rear bumper.
I am Thankful I only need to Pass smog once and they have no Dyno up here

Oh wow, good to know Porken. How about the earlier ones (ie 79)? I thought Rjm65 had an airpump on his car.

Also, I wondering why on my Euro 81 CIS had the Air pumped to the Heads and my 83 US to the Cat. Great info!!

Thanks everyone : Great Information here
This calls for a celebration :-) The less Smog Equipment the better for me However I like a quite exhaust system but could do without the Cat .I certainly care about the environment however .
Lot's of Diesels up here in Mendocino County but they are starting to make rules for them now move Over Logging trucks.
It's interesting the difference of smog rules from one county to another
