928S vs Boxster

Well, I sat in a new Boxster they are going to give as a prize this week at our local Four Winds casino here. The seat was all the way back and I did not have enough leg room unfortunately. My 928 is so much nicer to sit in, plenty of leg room. I am 6'3". The Boxster is a nice car and I like the looks but it's no 928! PS. If you are local you can be at the casino on the 30th and must place a bet 2 hours before the drawing for the car to be in the running. You must be present to win. I am not affiliated with the casino.

you are 6'3 and you can sit in a 928, did you take the front seat out, haha. I am 5'10 and I have about an inch to the roof. The next time I pass the border down there I will send you an email and maybe do coffee.

I have no problem sitting in my 928. Getting in an out is a little hard but otherwise it's fine, especially since it's an automatic, more foot room. The Boxster would be a bit uncomfortable especially on a long drive. Sure, send me an email when near here.

Does your seat's up/down switch not work?

I'm 6'4" and fit just fine. Rear seathight all the way down, front hight all the way up, seat all the way back. Most comfortable car I ever sat in, and I have about an inch to the roof. But then again, mine is a no-sunroof car..

Owning a 928 is risky business - but sometimes you just gotta say "what the fudge".

Thumbs up 928's rule

928 (all variants) as opposed to the Boxer

Looks alone, the last P car I'd own! IMHO the Box is a chick's/boy's car...

928 has more storage room. I don't have the rear seats in any of my 928's.

The Boxster is a nice looking car, I like it but the 928 is so much more of a car. The 928 is and will be one of the best they every produced, 911's, not even in the ball park!

I am 6' even (and a little long waisted at that) and fit okay in my sunroof equipped 928...seat back all the way, vertical adjustment is normal - because I can't drive lying down!

The Boxster is okay, just seems like there is a lot of them, styling is a little derivative...maybe in another 10 years I'll be excited to see one on the road?

Why is it that Porsche stick's to the same body type/style? Is it to focus on the performance of the car or just the German way? Meaning for almost 50 years the 911 has kept to a very similar body style and the current Porsche line up all have a similar look as well(They look as if they came from the same mother and father where as the 80's-90's more cousins)..... My neighbor has a 2010 Cayman and at a quick glance it could be mistaken for the 911 to most people. Much with the Boxter-to me it look's as if they started to make a 911 and left a few thing's off. Just posting to get other thought's on the subject.I look at other car company's and see the dramatic changes over the years and wonder why Porsche is different. Ain't broke don't fix it maybe? At least in the 80's Porsche had little more variety which I guess they do today too with the SUV and the Panamera. I was fortunate when I purchased my 2 928's. The owner before had alot of old Magazine's,The 85 maintenance hand book and the 85 showroom brochure with the 944,28 and the 3 911 models..

Porsche tried to change with the 928 but the 911 people did not like it. I guess there is a big following for the 911 type car. You would think by now that would come to an end, it's basically a VW with a big motor!

Boxsters are wonderful cars. I drive one everyday and promise it's a better daily driver for around town here in the city. The near 30mpg, cabriolet and in traffic nimbleness make it a joy to drive.

I'd like one. Especially would appreciate a Cayman S. Someday.

Just beware the IMS bearing issue on the Boxsters. Not sure of the cutoff year, but its a bad weakness and failure is terminal. If I bought an old Boxster, I'd immediately disassemble and install the upgraded aftermarket parts as a preventative measure.

Here's the kind of situation you can get into...IMS failure - Which new engine? - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Little brother has one. 2005 S. The seats are ROCK hard. The driving position is much more vertical. The dash is very upright as opposed to streamlined in the 28. I have driven both on long drives and the 28 is MUCH more comfortable and the highway power is better...even compared to a 6 speed S IMHO. The convertible top IS NICE. I was amazed when the 2 are parked next to one another. The Boxster is bigger than it looks and the 28 is lower and meaner looking.

When your little brothers not looking, swap the wheels over, those boxster ones look magic on a 928.

Nice pictures of the two cars. I do like the Boxster but after I sat in one, it would be uncomfortable for me with my long legs even with the seat all the way back. I think the rear styling looks great.
