Yes, great color too. I just hate the original front ride height though. PD's rule!

My thoughts on that ride height. Having my car at that height (now that I have those spring spacers in) is much less stressful. When it was lower I was bottoming out easily and front tires were rubbing when I turned sometimes. Still have a lot of worries about how bad it's running. Going after ignition now. New plug wires, cap, rotor and spark plugs coming from Roger. Alternator and volt gauge are working now. Getting fire out the tail pipe when I let off the gas and it backfires. I lowered my mirror tonight to watch it. Maybe I shouldn't drive it till I get the problems fixed but I can't resist. Always testing changes out.

You may have bad fuel regulators allowing fuel past the vacuum diaphragms and then sucked into the intake unmetered.

Backfiring out the exhaust is normally caused by ignition timing, vacuum leak on the distributor retard line or line to the decelerator valve, or a busted diaphram in the decelerator valve itself.

Landseer, you nailed it. I finally found the ground you were talking about. It's not behind the air pump, but under the air pump control.

I had the car running, barely touched the valve body, and the car instantly stalled.

I then noticed the brown harness wrap under it and thought "That's it!".

Found the screw halfway in. Ran it in good and tight, car now lights off quick and runs great.

Thanks for everyone's help, and a HUGE thanks to Landseer!

Awesome work!

Yeah, can't get any cheaper than tightening a screw.

But I learned a buttload more about this car, gained a few very cool tools, have extra relays on standby now, and the car's running smoother than ever, and starts with just a blip of the switch.

I've got a good mind to route that ground wire to some place visible and easily accessed.

After I got it running, I went ahead and replaced the pax fuel regulator and the fuel damper.

I ordered the left and right regulators, but the eBay dude sent me one regulator and a damper. I didn't realize this until today when I began the job.

I was like "Perfect!", because I thought I still needed to acquire a damper. The pax regulator leaked fuel out the vacuum port, but the driver regulator did not, so I chose to replace the pax one. After I had finished the replacement, I went ahead and replaced the fuel hose on the driver regulator, too. Both hoses were ROTTEN!

The car now idles too high. I'll adjust that later.

So, in this process, I've replaced:

fuel pump relay $50
fuel injection relay $25
temp II $25
fuel filter $15
pax regulator $30
damper $35

Not bad, I guess, considering I was planning on buying another L-Jet, ignition switch and fuel pump.

Excellent. You've researched wisely

When Neil gets to the east coast we should get together in VA Beach area.

Here's some from today. The dog weighs 145lbs. Wish she had less of an attitude though.

I paid $2000 for the front 86. Had 73K miles.
