Have you ever changed the switch? it has a pig tail plug that connects up under the glove box. From experience with both 1978 and 1979 cars the switches have two problems: 1) over time the contacts develop a "green" copper corrosion on the surface that inhibits circuit contact, 2) the thin "leaf" contact fatigues over time and deflects away from making contact. If you are a surgeon with good dexterity you can disassemble the switch (taking great care not to drop the small ball bearing that centers the leaf) clean the contacts and bend the leaf back slightly to make contact. then reassemble with the ball in the proper position....good luck.

If you can't get the switch to work again, disconnect the switch about twelve inches under the center console and jump 12 volts to it to drive the window up. Or just use the other switch. Can be a pain accessing the disconnects, but it's worth the effort just to have your window up.

Also, you may have a broken wire in the door. Try slowly opening and closing the door while holding the switch in the up position. You may find the sweet spot and drive it, then you'll know you have bad wiring or a bad switch.

Good advice. Try switching the switch before taking it apart. At least so you can get the window back up before it rains.

I actually made a jumper set of wires just for this purpose. Pull the connections loose, then jump known good switch to bad window. If this does not work you have a problem either with the wiring to that window motor or the motor itself. BUT...it seems these motors last forever....but I'm sure they don't. I've just never had a bad one.

I can see from the service record that my car had both window motors replaced at some point. The windows still didn't work. Didn't when I bought the car either. I replaced a $30 relay - whooptie freakin doo they worked like a charm after that!

Could just be a fuse, too - always check the fuses first

Owning a 928 is risky business - but sometimes you just gotta say "what the fudge".

What year car are we talking about??? US or Other? I suggest you add the info in your signature so others will know what car your asking about.

As we try to help you guys, try and help us by putting your Model Year and Euro/US in your Signature. This is important info for us to start troubleshooting

Next, take two leads, one for ground, one for 12 volts, apply them to the motor side of the disconnect under the center console. Switch the positions in the disconnect until you make the window go up. You can get power out of your CE. Lots of open slots with 12 volts just sitting there.

Remember to slowly open and close your door while applying power.

Voltage at Coil? Green Wire condition? Where was the last place you were working on the car? Maybe bumped something in the CE panel?
