1979 euro flooding

I have had some trouble after the car gets warmed up with it acting flooded if the car sets for 30 or so minutes. It starts good cold and if you start it shortly after shutting it off, otherwise you have to give it gas and clean it out after starting. I also notice a little miss at an idle. Just wanted to know if anyone has a idea of what could be the problem. I was thinking the injectors may need cleaned. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check if you have a leaking Accumulator. This is know on CIS cars and to cause hard hot starts.

Does this car have a cold start valve? If so, could it be operating when it shouldn't?

Try disconnecting your cold start injector or thermotime switch once the car is warm. If it eliminates the problem, then your thermotime switch in the cold start circuit could be bad causing the cold start injector to fire whenever the starter is engaged (cold or warm). It could explain why it starts good cold and floods when warm. It something you can try quickly and if it does not solve the problem you can move on to more complex stuff.

cold start valve unplugged

I unplugged the cold start valve and tried starting hot. I still acted like there was a couple of cylinders were fouled or not getting gas. If I rev the engine a couple of times it comes out of it. It does have a slight miss when running at an Idle. Any other idea's, maybe dirty injectors??

Pull plugs and compare. This will give you an indication of a working CIS Injector

All your symptoms appear to indicate leaking and or clogged injectors. Try a couple treatments with Techron or Gumout cleaner to see it to clear up the flooding/missing. The hot start problem may be the leaking injectors or some other problem. The following link provided a good starting point for diagnosing the hot start problem.

Yeah, and especially on a 79. Those are 30+ Year Old Injectors. Replace them with some Mercedes ones and be done with it.

I would bet it's the accumalator. I have the same issue (with new injectors). I was told that when the accumulator doesn't hold pressure the heat from the motor causes air bubbles in the fuel. When you start it, it stumbles and runs funny until the air is purged... at least that's my issue.

Yeah, that was my first suggestion on Post #2, but it seems as if he moved on. Doesn't hurt to put new Injectors on a 30+ Year Old car, but yes check your Accumulator as recommended.

I was trying to lead him back to your point. I agree it can't hurt to change 30 year old injectors either but in the end I don't think it's the root of his problem since it runs fine cold and hot and is just a start up issue.
