Locking differential....

Just a quick question.

How many 1986 928's were manufactured with LSD?

In general, for all years, is limited slip a fairly common option on the 928 series, or is it rare?

well, they are not "locking differentials" but limited slip diffs controlled by a clutch pack...and just as a guess on the overall number, and it differs by year, but about 20% of the cars seem to have LSD...
