Silicone Vacuum hose replacement

Hi Guy's,

Since i still have some intermittent issues with the car's cruise control, central locking system, car running a bit rich, can't get the ignition timing quite right, etc, etc... i decided to start by replacing all the 32 year old (yep, still the original braided hoses) vacuum hoses first.

I ordered the double silicone vacuum hose set from 928m and hope it will at least help a little. does anyone have experience here with this particular hose set, i.e. will i have enough to replace all the lines in the engine bay that could cause issues?

A good all vacuum hose changeout is in order for all 928s on the road. That old braided hose usually crumbles when you look at it wrong. I actually used 928 Motorsports length and size post and bought the silicone hose elsewhere, it came out about $10 cheaper. Carl has good stuff though and most likely better quality stuff anyways.

If you haven't done this already, every 928 needs to have an Intake Refresh. Replacement of all the rubber on the topside of the motor. The heat sealed in the engine compartment is crazy, thus hardening of all the rubber.

Rogers kit using Mercedes Benz rubber coupling and thin wall hard tubing is preassembled for each model year variation. I wouldn't go any other route after trying both. Home - 928's R Us Porsche Parts Store

Just my opinion on that thin hard tubing. I don't much like for that solution under the hood and I know there are "some" under the hood but mainly it's in the dash area. Since we work on our cars a lot and that thin tubing stuff gets brittle over time, it is more likely to fail bumping it a few times over it's life under the hood. I think you'll be better off with Carls stuff. Just my 2 centavos.

I already ordered Carl's lines so I'm pretty much committed now anyway.
I'll let you guy's know it works out.
