Not sure which year you have. My 86 has a check valve which screws into one end. What does your old one look like in comparison? Take a picture and post it here.

Where did you buy the pump? Part Number? CIS or L-Jet? You really need to put your MY and US or Euro in your Sig "And" you need to buy a digital camera.

That is different than mine which has a hard line going to the filter or vise verse as I recall. My car has the check valve on one end of the pump.

Someone with your year should be able to set you right.

Again, post your year and model in the signature area so every time you respond it will be in there.

Ok? Color doesn't matter, it's the connectors. The pictured is the one you received or is "on" the car?

Where did you get it?
What is the part number.
Did you try to substitute something else, not the right Bosch pump, as there are hundreds of them.
Get a real camera.

Bosch Fuel Pumps -

Hey Nuts4Porsche, All of the Bosch designed fuel pumps are pretty similar in appearance except for the delivery capacity and how the output check valve is attached. Part numbers and vehicle engine size (Fuel needed for Max HP @ full tilt wide open throttle) will determine each application.

Referring to the above photos - The output check valve is built into the snout of the earlier all silver pump while a removable check valve is shown attached at the output end of the green colored pump. Both pump setups have a soft rubber hose on the inlet side and a banjo style fuel line fitting on the high pressure output side. The check valve along with a spring loaded fuel accumulator is designed to hold a static/residual fuel pressure at the fuel injectors for restarting a parked vehicle.

The problem with the earlier silver design (snout) pump was that if the built-in check valve fails to seat and hold your residual fuel pressure - you had to replaced the whole pump as an assembly. On the later designed pumps, if the output check valve fails to seat - it can be replaced as a separate part.

By the way - you can actually add the separate check valve to the output side of the earlier silver fuel pumps. In some cases I had found that if an older (snout) style fuel pump was still providing good solid fuel pressure/quantity while the engine was running, you can simply stack on a new check valve to resolve a static fuel pressure problem. This does make the older pump assembly a bit long…..but it can save you the price of a replacement pump.

One other point - If you are having a difficult time restarting a parked car from the loss of your residual pressure - also statically check all your injectors and the fuel accumulator for leaks.

The silver snout fuel pump uses a bolt with holes drilled through it - to attach the banjo fuel fitting. This bolt looks almost like the check valve you can see screwed into the newer style pump.

The new stye pump with detachable check valve needs only an acorn cap nut to attache the banjo fitting.

Good Luck, Michael

The difference is the fuel pressure. If you use the wrong pump, your car will run, and it will idle, however, when you attempt to rev your engine under load, you will find that it will not.

Good Luck.

Send it back and buy this one on Ebay for $39 shipped to your door:

Hayg OEM Inline Fuel Pump 0 580 254 984 0580254984 New | eBay

Its what I did (and I will most likely take some flack for using the cheap pump, but its working great).
