RL post was about the jumper used I think only in certain early models.
Most frequent alarm issues are from buried aftermarket units flaking away. |

You may have a faulty switch somewhere. The hood switch goes bad, it's on the passenger side right at the cross-member mount. Your hatch switch may be bad, too. I just disconnected my switch, the connector is right there at the receiver, near the battery ground point.

Does it work properly? Leave a door open with the switch depressed by some tape, lock the car/activate the alarm, and remove the tape. If it works as it should, that should help you narrow down the culprit.

'79 928 Euro 5 Speed

I know yours is a '80 US and mine is a '79 Euro, but I found mine behind the glove box. There was also a switch under the dash on the driver side that I could push in and pull out which I thought was supposed to shut it off but didn't always work. Got fed up and just started pulling out connectors. I wish I could remember which connector I pulled. I guess one day I will go back and see if I can figure it out. Anyway, this may not help at all, but thought I would post my experience.
