I put my jackstands right onto the round pads...I did not like it, and did not feel safe....I ended up putting stands all over the darn thing...

I just ordered a set of these: Liftbars

I can't wait to get them!

They are made specifically for the 928 and even at that it appears there are two different types depending on whether you have the round pads or square. If your pads are missing, they may not be safe to use.

Are all four of your pads missing? Any pictures?

I have a set that goes inside the hole and supports the front end that way.

You can jack up the rear from the support underneath about middle and behind the trans as I recall. It's a cast aluminum piece. I use a small block of wood on the floor jack, then place your jack stands on those jack points. In the front, you can jack up on one side on a frame part in front of the the wheel just enough to get the car up so you can then place a 2x4 on your jack and position it on the support behind the pan. I got this from Mrmerlin sometime ago. Do a search on his post, it may have pictures.
