About to have mine tinkered with. Just got the super bearings for the torque tube, bump steer kit from 928 Motorsports and some steering rack boots from Pelican.
Now it's off to the shop to take a "vacation" as the wife put it.

I took the filter and fuel pump out. Worked nice, wrong filter got shipped and fuel pump died. So This part of project is half done yeah and my oil pan drain plug is striped, kinda bad even a pipe wrench didn't solve it. I guess I HAVE to put heat to it, any suggestions?

While my car was being wrenched on, my mechanic advised me that the tie rod ends on the 928MS bump steer kit were too short. I called 928MS. They said they would ship the revised kit no additional charge as long as they got the initial kit back. A pleasant surprise and a business that I will patronize again....when I have money again :-o

Oil pan is aluminum, stripped would come out easy wouldn't it?

I have all sorts of bolt and nut removers, sometimes working around with a punch works too.

Too buggered and you have to rethread to a larger size maybe.

Back in July of 2011, I replaced Timing belt, water pump and rebuilt the original tensioner. I don’t put many miles on the car so I decided that I would check the tension at 1,000 miles. Last Friday (6/20) I had a little time to check the tension. The mileage on the new belt was 928 miles (coincidence ). I used the Kemp Tool I purchased from Roger for use during the Timing Belt replacement. I reluctantly attacked the job remembering some of the grief encountered in the replacement. Much to my surprise the job took, at most, 15 minuets. When used as per the tool instructions, the Pointer was exactly in the center of the notch of the Kemp tool. I will check again in June or July of 2016 when the “new” belt is 5 years old, or when I log another 1,000 miles.

interior lights

I installed the VW interior lights in the porsche today. They look excellent and with LED bulbs work awesome. I also fixed a leaking heater control valve, Installing a metal manual one for now instead of that plastic OEM part. This will remain on untill I reinstall the AC. I still need a good compressor, anyone know the tool part number for the tool to remove and/or install a clutch on an AC compressor?

I replaced the drivers side power window switch, got the sunroof switch working, tightened the e-brake cable, and put some Lucas oil power sterring treatment in the resevoir. I have a few drips here and there, I'm hoping they will slow down a bit until I can get my new rack put together. Tomorrow should be passenger side fog lamp, replace a cracked lug nut, replace the light under the hood, and attempt odometer repair #3. May start into the A/C system troubleshooting as well.

Sounds like a productive day.

Lucas power steering leak stop works very well. I used it in my old Land Rover and it worked as advertised but you should use enough of it to do the job.
A little won't work.

Painted the cluster housing and clear coated it. Took the (2) partial steering wheels I had, disassembled, and made a very nice one. Soaked down the bolts holding the windshield washer tank..it's coming off next, since I broke it...all while waiting for my new speedo gear to get here.....
