More room when re-installing fuel tank
First time I replaced tank, needed 5 hands and the jack or stands were in the way,
came up with this, couple of feet of rope (or wire) 12 inch piece of wood, and a scissors jack, Used a floor jack to get the tank up to about where it lives, then put the wood and rope into the tank, inside the hatch, looped the rope around the scissors jack turned up the jack, removed floor jack. tank can be manouvered into final position while suspended, then turn up the scissors jack to final position. Heaps of room underneath to locate the bracket. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice idea, keeps the bottom free for your body. I normally use a jack on the bottom and slowly raise and maneuver. I like your way.

Don't forget the hoses that go into the top or the vent line.
Gorilla extreme duct tape worked pretty well for me as a replacement for the foam over the straps of the tank support. What's the Best Tape? Abusive Lab Test - Popular Mechanics Don't force anything, especially as you tighten the bolts on the support straps. |

This deserves a spot in the "Common Fixes" Sticky. Much more than a Ford Ranger Homemade Speakerbox foam repair.
Sorry, I cannot help myself.

In the context that this forum is not only specifically for Porsche, but for Porsche 928s, a fix on a home-made speaker box in a Ford Expedition, Ranger, or Pinto are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.
Don't you wonder why there have been so few contributions to the "common fixes" sticky? People see 20 pictures of a completely unrelated fix and don't know what to make of it. Sorry I am the only one that has the balls to verbalize this. PS - Commenting on mental capacity when I post something you do not agree with? Really? Sorry, guy, I graduated grade school a long time ago. I'd try for a comeback, but it has been years since I worked at that level.

Your personality fits perfectly in the "other" forum where you should move along. You'll see that us Pelican 928 users get along and have an open mind on fixing things. Try posting your WD-40 fix on the "other" forum and see what you'll get. Nothing like the replies you'll get here. I also don't see 6 pages and 41 fixes as "few contributions" on the Common Fixes thread, I removed your spam as it serves no informative value. I have already asked you to cease nicely. Stay OT. Sorry for all this Plexus.

Let us bring this, then, to its' logical conclusion.
If I post a fix for my daughter's Flexible Flyer wagon, where I lube the three ball bearings, it should be in the stickys because Porsche has ball bearings too? It makes no sense, and it does not belong. Just like the speaker fix does not belong on this forum. You should be proud of your speaker fix - it was good. It just does not belong here, as it is not related to Porsches or 928s. I will not mention it again.

Hey MP, if you can move the original post to "common fixes " do it, I posted it in the wrong place .

Considering speakers are brought up almost on a weekly basis on at least one of the major forums, no direct replacements are made and 99.9% of them simply need a new foam surround....it most certainly belongs in the common fixes thread.
