Bugatti Veyron VS porsche 928
Bugatti Veyron VS porsche 928
VIDEO : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSFX9vrwJf8 At 2.5 Million whats the best Car a Porsche 928 or the Bugatti Veyron ? Bugatti Veyron let's see over 400 KPH top speed with fantastic handling 1200 HP ! wow nice Just the Tires cost $20 K interesting . I assume with the 2.5 Million price tag you get tires also. Now if we trade our 928,s lets see 1000 thousands = 1 million so @ 2.5 Million that's 2,500 thousands humm now just how many 928's @ say $12,000 each would we have to sell to get up the money ? and is it worth it ? well just what is the better car ? the new Italian Car or the German Car ? what would we have to do to get 1,200 Hp from out 928 ? and a top speed of over 400 KPH . ![]() ![]() *** 267mph The Bugatti Veyron is an 8-litre, mid engine grand touring car. The Super Sport version is the fastest road-legal production car in the world with a top speed of 267mph and was designed and developed by the Volkswagen Group. Personally, I find it to be an over the top car with over the top ugly looks. If I were a billionaire, I'd buy a Lamborghini and donate the remaining $2 million to a good cause. A personal jet with twice the speed and actual usefulness would be nice too.
Tires are $42,000 and last 10K miles or just one top speed run. I also read where the wheels need to be changed out after the 2nd set of tires and they cost nearly $70,000. So by 20K miles with easy driving, the cost of new rubber alone with be equal to that of a brand new high end Panamera. I will give them credit for making a car that actually does what they claim...unlike that Dodge Tomahawk abortion with its "potential" 400 mph top speed and yet no one has taken it over the 40 mph top speed of a moped. And if I really feel the need to do 250 mph, I can throw a turbo on my Hayabusa which already runs in the neighborhood of 200 mph.

Bob Lutz (The Man) says building the Veyron is like peeing in a dark suit (to the VW group).
It gives you a warm feeling but no one really notices. He went on to say the real automotive achievement is the new Corvette. No other manufacturer (none) can figure out how GM make it so good for that price and still makes a profit. I agree. Veyron does nothing for me.

veyron
The veyron is the biggest pile of crap in the world. Never mind it is ugly..which it will probably go down in history as one ofthe ugliest cars ever...but in a real racing situation..like le mans..the car would be out quick...the junk weighs close to or greater than 4000 pounds..there are no 4000 pound sports cars...itwould roast its brakes...how stupid. Can you tell i really hate this car

There are several in the greater 928 community that have both cars, and find they prefer one or the other at different times. Driving a distance still seems like the 928 has few contenders.

I hate the Veyron. There is no amount of money that I could have that would make me want to buy one, unless I could crush it with a big redneck monster truck

you're kidding right? There is no comparison between the cars. There never will be a comparison between the cars. There are very few cars ever made that can be compared to a Veyron, and none of them are Porches, not even the vaunted 959.

You can see a review of the car on youtube in Jay Leno's Garage. As Jay mentioned, there is nothing a guy can do on this car other than check the oil. Personally, I don't like the looks of it. If I had the $$ I would not buy one.
As for the Corvette being cheap. I wonder if GM is selling them at a loss as with the Volt for which us taxpayers subsidize some $10K on each one and are still being sold at a loss.

I agree, it's no E. Bugatti creation but rather a big VW/Audi owning Lambo looking thing. Bugatti cars were things of beauty. I agree about the Volt and the taxpayer money. But I do think the Corvettes are very nice, seats are finally nice too. It looks like a Ferrari to me. (a little flashy though) and i believe GM does do well selling them. They are a great achievement in terms of performance and value. I will never be a Corvette guy but i think it's a better car than the Veyron.

A vette in the showroom will sell a heck of a lot of cheaper cars, so it would be a huge hit to overall Chevy sales not to have the vette.

An interesting thread, no? IMHO, very much apples to oranges. I find the Veyron a technological "tour 'd force" , but also very hard on the eyes. Comparison is largely irrelevant due to the astronomical price tag involved, and the 928 has been out of production 19 years. What is relevant to me is a 928 is attainable by people other than the Hollywood elite, and Oil Sheiks.

It is a very serious build with some great engineering. Seems like Todd is babying the transmission a bit on take off - those times are really great considering the 'slow' starts Todd's Twin Turbo 928 Alan
