Is it an 80 Euro (with CIS injection and 300 hp) or the US version? If you post the VIN#, there are some really smart folks that will tell you most everything you wanted to know about this car the way it came from the factory.

I am personally flying up to Ottawa on Monday to pick up a perfect 1984 928S for 7500CAD with 65K on the clock.

Hello and welcome to the Forum :
Does the Motor Run ?
Not sure on the Vin Check but someone well Know here , However a 1980 ( I have one ) US Model has Electronic Fuel Injection ( just look for Injectors with wires going to each Cylinder )
A 928 Euro has CIS type Fuel delivery . A Fuel line to each Cylinder coming from a fuel distributor.
SO Very easy to tell just open the hood and look .
A US 1980 is a desirable Year model with no Air Pump on the Motor if stock and original.
A 5 Spd is a Huge Plus also however the early 5 Speeds are not as great as the 84 up Years I think . The 32 valve Years have a stronger trans and yes it well fit if you can find one at a good price . However the early Type if working is not all that bad at all when sifted properly .
What is your Location ? . I have some Body parts that may be of use ? . Perhaps I well part with them like doors , bumpers and such.
I would start with the running of the car to develop a Idea of just what the costs involved really are before you just start spending and such .
