Porsche Crest Removing Rear Center Console

Hi Folks,

Can anyone share the instructions for removing/replacing the rear center console for a '79 928?

This might be a relatively simple procedure, but I want to double check.

I could not find anything after performing a search.

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Humberto-

Hi,
I have the Porsche factory manuals, so after reading your post I got curious about it to.
I must have looked for an hour but could find nothing on front or rear consoles, kind of odd.
I know there are three large screws under the foam mat glued to the bottom of the console that have to come out to remove the inside plastic liner. I couldn't tell if or where any other mounting points are from just looking at mine. The folding seat pivot is in the console, but I have had those out and after the fasteners from the latch side are out twist the seat and the top comes right out. The pivot rod is not held in with anything.
By the way, why are you taking it out?
Good luck,
John

Hi John,

Thanks for your time and the information.

I want to replace the original on the car due to wear and tear (e.g., many deep scratches scratches). I was able to find an original/factory one on-line in the same (rare) cork color in great condition.

Maybe I will just replace the upper/cover and not the entire console, as this should make a significant improvement and will be a much easier operation.

Best,

Humberto-
