How to mount heat shield below turbo

I've got this heat shield and I believe it fits over orifice in the engine carrier. The orifice(just below turbo)(does something fit in this orifice?) is shown in the old catalog on page 76 and page 131 in the 85-88 catalog. I cannot get the screw holes to line up no matter how you try fitting it on. Does it fit there? What could I be doing wrong?
Any help greatly appreciated. I'm almost done with the job, but can't get my brain around this heat shield.

Thanks,
Ed

Hello - take a look at the link below to a tech article from our site - perhaps it'll help you troubleshoot.

Thanks for the info. It's not the brake booster heat shield. This heat shield fits "on" the engine carrier with two bolts and covers what appears to be an air hole.
Neither parts catalogs show this part anywhere that I can.
Any other ideas. I'm stumped!!

That's close. It fits supposedly just down below the turbo on the engine carrier. If you folks haven't seen it before I guess I'm out of luck. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thanks,
Ed

That bit of heat shielding goes over the steering column, below the turbo.

I removed mine when swapping the turbo... I had to pull the shield from above, to help access the two bolts from underneath that actually hold the turbo to the engine mount / turbo pedestal. It should bolt on right near where the universal joint is in the steering column.. two small bolts that fit into tapped locations.

that's the heat shield cover plate for the steering shaft. it protects the u-joint grease from the hot turbocharger. if i remember correctly, the bolts are accessed from above. Part Number: 95110112900 (no longer available!)

you can see it in the diagram here:

you can also see it here as part# 45:
