Engine block question
I have a 87 busted turbo block. Does anyone know if I can use a regular 944 block given that I put all the parts in it from the turbo? I have an 86 core.

Yes, you can. I use an 83 NA block for my 86 turbo build.

had to replace my block when I rebuilt my 86 951 engine. from research you can use early blocks, but I read they are not as strong as 86 and up from when the turbo came out. for 86+ even if they are from a NA car they also have a tap on the balance shaft cover for the turbo oil line. on the early blocks you have to create a way to feed oil to the turbo.
I was going to use a block from a 87 924S parts car I have but found a good 86 951 engine for the rebuild. also read the 86 is the best / strongest block, after that porsche started trimming it down. all comments from reading so do the research yourself to confirm.

don't throw that cracked block out: you could darton sleeve that cracked block and make a 2.7 liter.

Well, my brother threw a brass fitting in the block through the spark plug hole. That’s how it happened. Never thought one can be so evil. They say karma is a b…h. I’m sure he will reap what he sows.
I’m switching the block now from a non turbo car. |

Ahhh, thats pretty cold doing that. I was wondering about those gold flakes down there. That image had me worried about my engine over heating or something, that was clearly mechanical, WHEW!!!!!
