Boost is at 10 and wondering if I can push it more without blowing it up! Thanks! |

Porsche designs their engine as a compromise between power and longevity.
Increasing the boost will push the compromise in the direction away from longevity. That said, some racers want a one hour engine and some want a one year engine.

Boost by itself is not going to grenade your engine. Pre-ignition will, due to low AFR's while on boost / at high revs.
Get a wideband AFR gauge and make sure that you are not above an AFR of ~11 (read more on the forum about what's good/bad). You should be able to run up to 14 psig boost without issue if your AFR's are good. Wear and tear on your bearings and rings will go up slightly, so make sure everything is in good shape first.

I have the LR 300 WHP kit which is similar to yours except with addition of 3" exhaust, no cat.
I also have boost gauge and exhaust back pressure gauge. I'm running max of 15psi on the track. seven track days so far. Mike Lindsey told me that backpressure is the thing that kills turbo engines; if you get much beyond a 1:1 ratio of boost to backpressure that risks blowing the headgasket. I'm seeing a ratio up to 1:1.5 boost:backpressure at high rpm

the 'safe level' is unique for each engine condition. it is not safe to crank up the boost unless you have the ability to monitor knock (you can easily install a knock counter) and AFR as already mentioned earlier in this thread.
check out the faq page here: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-944-turbo-turbo-s/409105-porsche-951-944-turbo-reference-list.html specifically the link that says: how to build your own digital knock counter; and: want to turn the boost up for mad power? read all about the cycle valve here;

I wouldn't. Go buy a Subaru Imprezza and go boost away. These are classics and should be left alone. My 2 pesos.

But ya know, my machine was chipped, modified and Magna flowed to make some serious power. I did nothing, the previous owner did and it flat hauls. Once the lag is over, it flat screams, kinda scary like, It will blow the doors off of modded new stangs and newer vettes and lift its tires LOL! Needless to say, I don't boost much. Hahahaha!
