Too much oil, what to do?
I changed the oil in my 1986 951, and the oil is to the point of the dipstick that starts to twist. I'd say I'm 1/8 a quart - 1/10 a quart above the "full" mark. I'm worried to drive my car because I fear too much oil will ruin my engine's seals/rings. Should I not worry about this? My oil pressure is in between 4-5bar on the highway, and a little over 2bar at idle with the engine hot, it 80-90 degree weather. Is there any way to correct this, maybe loosen the oil filter and let some oil drain out? Am I worrying too much?

Don't worry about it... for track cars, we recommend running one half quart over the full line in order to help to save the rod bearings.
Relax, drive the car, and in a couple of hundred miles, you will be down to the full level anyway... gb

Yup, worrying too much
![]() Since my 951 burns oil like a ....... well, it just burns oil bad, I usually fill it 0.5L over full, and let it run right down to the low mark, then start over again. Makes it so I don't have to check quite as often. 1/8 quart or so wouldn't make any real difference.

Turn car upside down, drain 1/8 quart from fill hole. Problem solved. Next.

Yeah, what Zero10 said. With the way these cars normally eat and leak oil, it'll be back down to normal levels in no time. The Porsche manual states that a whole quart of consumption per 1000km is "normal"...
