New Knocking Noise..Help
After a day at the autocross I noticed a bad knocking noise coming from the back of the car. I can only hear it when i'm in first or second gear driving slow. As I speed up the knocking gets faster. I can't hear it in 3rd,4th, or 5th. Where do I start looking?
I have a 85.5 944nt I've read alot of posts talking about the CV joints to be the majority of this type of problem but, all of them describe the sound as a clicking noise and coming from one side of the car. Could a CV Joint make a KNOCKing noise? If it is the CV Joint, How bad is it to drive until i get the parts to fix it? Last edited by aa799; 05-06-2006 at 03:56 PM.. |

you may have broken a tooth on a gear. dump the trans oil and look for bits of metal.
