				Converting turbo to turbo s

Which turbo / chip do you buy? I guess just the OEM turbo and chip for a turbo S? Is there anything else you would need? I also heard there is a turbo upgrade + chip to get you 125hp above turbo S -- Which turbo + chip is that? Don't need more power, but I wouldn't complain Thanks, -Alex

Vitesse is your friend. Don't stop at a stock Turbo S config. besides it would probably be cheaper to go with a Vitesse turbo than a stock Turbo S turbocharger. If my stock turbo were to explode I would look real hard at a Vitesse stage II.

I'm sure it has a matching ECU? Will I need to do piston upgrades or anything? Thanks, I'll look around for it -Alex

No internal upgrades necessary for vitesse......... I would recommend a better waste gate and bov....... Otherwise it is all plug and play. ......and John is an extremely helpfull guy.

The S's wheels, while wider, were the same diameter, and I am currently running tires with the same width as S-spec on my '86 without any rubbing issues.

The 951Max chips looking amazing... I'm a little worried as to reliability... I already have the lindsey boost enhancer, 3" exhaust, so if I got some wastegate shims and 3 bar fuel pressure regulator I would be golden... How long would it last though? I'd be scared at that high of boost, and I'd really want a boost controller, so I could turn it back down... Suggustions? Comments? Thanks! -Alex

Porsche did not supply 55lb injectors with the K26/8. I am using the stock Bosch injectors with the 951MAX chips for the 15-18psi range. I basically have the same setup your are talking about. My car is an 87 with a K26/8 installed with a 3bar FPR. I am also using an EBC and a Tial wastegate, but these are not a requirement. 55s might be necessary if you plan on running a really high level of boost. Russell at 951MAX will be able to tell you exactly what you need. The Lindsey car was running stock injectors as well from what I remember. What level of boost do you plan to run? You might want to consider using an MBC. There are some really good ones out there for ~ $50.00. And of course a good aftermarket boost guage, if you don't have one already. The previous owner installed a boost gauge - It's an Autometer? I dunno looks really ricey -- Dunno if it's any good. How reliable is your car with the 951MAX chip? How rich is it running? Did you go through emissions?

The car runs well with the chips. I don't have my WB installed yet, but I have not had any symptoms of running lean (detonation) or rich (black smoke). Fortunately there are no emissions testing in this state, so my car is catless and has WG that dumps to atmosphere.
