timing belt parties?

Never heard of them before but it sounds like a great idea. just curious as to how many of you out there are in the northern va, md, or dc area that need, or are thinking about replacing your timing belt? I searched the site and couldnt find anyone with a 951, but ive passed quite a few within the last month alone

Thanks

4 states away in your neck of the woods is alot different than 4 states away in my neck of the woods.

Last summer I drove 600 miles round trip to attend the timing belt tensioning party hosted in Indiana and it was just to help out and get my AC recharged. It was a great weekend and I hope I can do it again this year.

There are alot of 944 guys over where you are. Try posting in the 944 BBS asking about timing belt tension parties near you or you can try to host one.

You could always come to wisconsin in spring and I will do them for you.

Best of luck,
Speedy

836 miles :-)

then again, at 160 mph it should only take 5.23 hours. im really surprised im sure that all the 944's ive seen in this area arent just s2's. any idea as to whether or not the timing belts are similar from the 951s to the 944s?

they are the same. i've done them both. with a tensioner and without. '83, 85.5, and '88 turbo. i've used the auto tensioner, my hand, the 9201 and kriket tool. so far, the 9201 is the best, the auto tensioner is a close second.

I'm in the nova and would be interested in a timing belt party if one gets organized. I've got an Arnnworx tensioning tool, but no garage, so I'd kick that in if people were interested. Just no garage to work in, anymore.

Well, shoot, I'd trade a weekends worth of tensioning tool use for a driveway. 'Course I don't have the pump atm, but soon enough...
