TIP: If you ever remove your waste gate, replace the bolts with cap screws
I've had to remove and reinstall my waste gate twice now, and it's been a real chore. However, what makes it hard is the fact that the exhaust flange is so close to the bolts, that you can't get a socket around the bolt heads. Even on some of them, an open end wrench is tight., and sometimes so tight that you don't have enough room to rotate the wrench.
I finally got tired of that BS, so I replaced my bolts with cap screws. WOW, what a difference it made. It made installing the waste gate like gravy. Just one more thing to think about if you ever get to the point of removing the waste gate. Torqued them at 29 ft/lb. M8 at 12.9 grade. Last edited by TexasBlake; 05-22-2009 at 12:27 PM.. |

It seems like every time I look at a old cap screw it strips out but I can see where the benefit.
