strange turbo set-up question

I bought a turbo off of e-bay the other day (price was right) and the set-up seems a little strange to me. It is a turbonetics turbo with a replica kkk 8 hot side and wheel. It is the cold side though that has me confused. I measured the wheel and as far as I can tell it is a t3 wheel. I know that is it much smaller that my t4b wheel in my other turbo. My question is why would you use a 8 hotside with a t3 coldside wheel?
My other question is what type of horsepower numbers can I expect from this? The guy on e-bay advertised that it made huge HP.
Any thoughts?

thats gonna be left up to the dyno as far as how it performs. When he claimed big Hp did you see a dyno sheet and on what car?

Im also gonna ad that 60% of the people on ebay have no idea what they are "Really" selling this might be a higher percentage when it comes to car parts

He said he ran it on his 944. As I said the price was right. I really just wanted it for the number 8 hotside and wheel as I said I was just surprised to see a t3 wheel in it.

So none of the turbo experts want to guess what this set-up would make on a 2.5 liter engine?

That's funny,, since you have not provided any specs on the wheel other than it is a T3. How is anyone supposed to be able to give you any accurate info.

between 150 and 300 hp..ther you go :0

that wheel is really only good for ~27 # per min airflow at any reasonable turbine speed. You may be able to get 300 hp out of it but it would be at some high pressure and heat

here it is plotted at 300 hp..no bueno

here it is at 250 hp

good info. instead of guessing, why not put it in your car and report back on your results?
