Wastegate Problems Please Help
Ok well first off I want to get off my chest that I feel like the biggest retard in the world. BUT I don't even know what I did wrong. I got the adapter plates in today so I FINGER TIGHTENED the two bolts that came with the wastegate into the threaded flange then onto the plate.
So I am ready to turn them out. Nope they wont budge totally locked down. Like the tightest bolt I have ever turned. How could this possibly happen? Want to make matters worse? The bolt just turned off. WTF I just want to scream. Why does this **** happen to me? What is the fix? A screw extractor is a no go since I was reefing on it with a 1/2" breaker to get it to turn just a bit. Thanks for any advice, Beefey |

Wrong bolt i'd say. That looks way long if I'm looking at it right.

These bolts came with the WG. The stub I have from shearing it in half threads great into the adapter plate... what gives?

Are the adapter plates and wastegate from the same vendor?

This is exactly what happened and how it happened. I talked to a couple engineering buddies of mine. I assume the tial WG is constructed out of stainless otherwise my theory is shot to **** again. If so BOOO tial BOOO. -Beefey |

time to drill out the broken bolts. make sure you drill all the way through the bolt, then try a square bolt extractor.

Forget the square extractor type - they suck.
If you're going to have to use an extractor, pick up some good ones. These Snap-On extractors work! I've been using these for years and they have NEVER let me down. Use these sizes and start with the 1/8 drill bit extractor. ![]()
