Got 2 A/F gauges on the way, which one do I use?
After deciding that I better get some gauges, I ended up with a VDO 30-25 boost gauge, and Autometer and Halmeter A/F gauges on the way (I couldn't find any VDO A/F gauges). The AM is nice because it matches the 2" circular form of the boost gauge. But the hali is nice because it has 50% higher resolution, and it is a $150 gauge (got it for 20 bucks, including shipping, never used). But the form is rather unusual. It is rectangular, with a semi-linear readout. Does anyone use one of these? If it has a higher input impedence (imposes less of a load on the sensor output) than the AM, I will definitely go with it. But if I decide to go with an A-pillar mount, it won't work. I think I am going to go with under-the-radio mounting for the gauges though. I'm just wondering if that would also be an adequate location for the yet un-purchased shift light, or does it really need to go on (or near) the dash. I've never had, or even used one before.
