position sensor signals

I am in the middle of a no start/no ground signal to the injectors on a 1986 944 Turbo. My question is will a noid light connected to terminals 25 and 26 of the sensor wire at the connector indicate a pulse when cranking the engine. What generates the pulse. I'm sure it is not magic. I have tried it and I get nothing. I do get the tach bounce (1/16 inch) and the resistance between 25 and 26 at 970 ohms. Any help/explanation will be greatly appreciated.
