Turbo Timer
Now before everyone burns me saying that the water pump stays activated after the engine is shut off because Porsche is a "real" sports car maker, please note that I already know this.
But being someone who thinks it would be good for my turbo to get oil after I shut the car off as well, I am curious if anyone knows where I can pick up a turbo timer for my 951 that has a wiring harness, because so far I can't find any for porsches. |

Hi JABM all you need to do is let the car run for a few mins or so after using heavy boost before you shut off the engine, the turbo dosnt really need extra oil running thru it as it is not turning,
the coolant system works very well at keeping the housing cool enough to let your turbo last a long time, What the cooling system really does is keep the turbo housing from staying so hot that it cooks the oil while things are hot, all that is needed is a good synthetic oil and a oil change program IE every 3000 miles it gets changed Porsche has a lot of experience in turbo charged engines if they thought it might damage the turbo they would have put an oil run on system in also........Stan |

Turbo timer type devices have been around for at least 40 years so if Porsche really wanted to keep the whole engine running rather than just the water pump they could have. The heat soak and preventing coking of the turbo bearings via the additional water pump was also discussed in the car mag reviews of the 951 so rest assured it is nothing new Mankind just recently discovered.
But spend your money on one if you want. |

I think you'd be wasting your time and money. Plus, you are adding more paraphernalia that can cause leaks and create electrical gremlins. Porsche knows what it is doing when it comes to turbos.
