Hep Me! Hep Me! Car will not start

For a 86 951.... Car will not start this morning. Battery is good and engine cranks solidly but doesn't even try to fire. Have pulled DME relay and jumped 87b and 30. I can hear this starting a number of electrical items but engine still cranks without firing. What else could be the issue?

Thx

Try jumping 87 and 87b to the 30 pin... you need a three prong jumper to bypass the dme relay.

Thx George..... OK. I was just jumping 87b to 30. Didn't realize I needed to jump more than that. I will try and let all know what happens.

Yep, I have 2 spare DMEs now after I had the same problem. One in the glovebox, one in the toolbox.

Maybe there is 2 balance shafts rattling around in the engine block, keeping it from starting: scratching 2 perfectly good alusil bores? Oh wait that was another engine of yours! My suggestion on fix is to wrap loose parts in packing material, takes a few minutes but well worth it right!!
