Ok, so I have this loud rattle and exhaust leak (somewhere) for the last 6 months that has been driving me crazy. My friend and I replaced the O2 sensor last weekend and that solved the rich smell at the muffler, but not the rattle or exhaust leak (one can only try the easy fixes first, right?).
While I was underneath the car i noticed one of the brackets was off and the cat tube was resting near the flowback tube (not sure of correct name). so I thought great, I think I finally found the issue and will take it to a muffler shop. SO I find this 5 star yelp muffler shop (I mean all 5 stars with 100 reviews, you never see this). I took it to them yesterday. They made modifications to the bracket and we thought we fixed it, but I had them do the 2k rpm test and it was still there. So we sat there for 5 min and the Dad found that another coupler was hitting against the Transmisison Tube, literally sitting below it and would go crazy at certain revs. We decided to cut the top part of it since it was not needed and see if that worked. So I go car shopping for the next 2 hours (yes I was frustrated). I was wondering why they never called me, so I assumed the worse and checked to see if I had my AAA card to tow back in case they broke something. But they fixed the sound! (well there is a tiny sound but you can;t really hear it unless you know it). And for only $100!!! In San Francisco, home of the rips offs. But here is the kicker: He tells me he smelled gas and was worried it was a fuel line, But he realized it was a leak and found two leaks. He non chalanntly mentions he fixed the leaks while he was in there, even though I never mentioned it to him! And no extra charge. I could not and still can not beleive I have no more leaks. My boost is smooth and more powerfull now, I am one happy camper after being depressed for so long about this. Anyway, just thought I would share a nice story for a change ![]() B
