Inside hatch switch no worky
Hi, the switch on the lower left of the footwell is inoperative. I had replaced the micro switch at the hatch a few years ago, the key method still works. Any ideas? This is on an '89 951. Thanks, Dave.

Check the wiring between the footwell switch and the hatch release motor.

With the hatch open, when you press the switch do hear the motor run and maybe a click noise?

With my hatch struts being kinda worn out my hatch release will not work either unless someone pulls up on hatch while I am activating the switch.

Dave, I discovered something really weird on the hatch release motor when I started refurbishing this 87 944S I just got.
The screws that hold the magnet onto the motor on the hatch release motor has loosened up, and in fact both had fallen out. The magnet had therefore moved off-axis, preventing the armature from spinning. This in fact was causing a current draw in the car, since the transmission wanted to get back to "home", but it couldn't. Maybe something similar is going on?

Hey Keith, I'll check it out, I do have a parasitic electrical draw in the car. But, has been that way since I got it. I pulled the fuse, and upon reinserting, I hit the switch, and it worked once. Might be a coincidence. The key in the hatch method still works though.

Cargo carpet gets in the way, latch receivers too tight, mis-aliignment of the hatch pins all can contribute to the symptoms you may be experiencing.
