993 wheel question

Have a stock 96 993.

How wide can I go front and rear without any body or suspension mods? And what offset is needed?

thanks

I answered in the 911 forum, but the info is mostly in the sticky at the top of the page

Thumbs up

The answer is a little fuzzier than you might think. It varies with wheel and tire manufacturer a bit but that's probably only if you are trying to really stuff it to the limit. Otherwise Bill's 993/964 info sticky at the top of this forum has a very comprehensive tally. Scroll through it to the wheel/tire section for sure.

I have 18s with a 50 offset and 225 is very safe. i have not tried 235 but it looks like those will work too.

The most sought after wheel for the 993 car was the Speedline 993 RS wheels. They are 8" ET 52 fronts and 10" ET 65 rears. Another good option is a set of Speedline Alessio wheel that is 8" ET 45 and 10" ET 56. J
Here is a picture of a set of Speedline Alessio wheels I restored and sold years ago. I have a set of Alessio wheels available now for sale. jdorociak@gmail.com Jim

in front there is a lot of room
for 18s
235/40 on 8ET52 or 50 works fine, 225/40 on 8 ET52 was oem 245/35 on 8.5ET56 works fine too

the back is tough even the Cup cars only used 10 ET61 & 65, though I think that 10.5 ET67 or so will fit w/ 280/30

when the cars get real low 10ET56 w/ 265/35 or 10ET65 w/ 280/30 will just kiss the left rear lip, rolling or trimming the lip seems to cure that

Bill, I have a 1992 964 with 17 inch turbo twists on. I just replaced the tires with the same 205x50 that were on the front, was Fulda now Yokohama and am getting really significant rubbing, even some chunks taken out of the tire where it hits, any ideas?
I think the rubbing is from the join where the bumper meets the fender, there is a little sharp protrusion there that looks like it is catching the tire on hard corners with bumps.
Shocks are newer Konis and springs are Green HKs set to Euro ride height. Do you think lifting the front end a little will help? I love the stance as is.

next to the valve stem should be a width # and an ET #
8 52 or 7 55 something like that, yes/no?
