Not sure if its called the secondary air injection, but it adds air during the first part of the start cycle. Well anyhow if any can understand what im talking about I would sure like some advice. mine seems to be cloged with carbon so the car gives a check light and will not pass the EM test. I have heard this is starting to be a problem on 993s and cant be fixed, short of a new top end.

Not sure how much of this will help but on p-car.com there is an article in the DIY section on how to clean the SAI. I have not tried it but since I pick up my 993 cab on friday, it might be something I will eventually have to deal with.

That procedure does work. You have to be careful though, you can break exhaust studs removing the heat exchangers.

Thanks so much guys p-car.com is awesome. sounds like this could save me about five grand. Whats the best way to free frozen studs?

PB Blaster and the patience of an oyster.
spray them down, go do something else, 1 hour later spray them down again, then again an hour later. let them sit overnight spray again - try you loosen them - if they start feeling "gummy" stop and spray again. AFJuvat
