993 on board computer display illumination
hi there - my digital display output on the tachometer of my 993 tip no longer illuminates, although the output is still perfectly readable in good light. Anyone know if this can be fixed or what needs to be replaced to repair? - thanks.

Mike,
I bought a '93 C2 last week and I have the same situation. I did some searching on the forum (not sure if here or Rennlist) but I copied the following response. I plan to get around to it in a few weeks. Good luck... Ron 1993 C2 Coupe, Guards Red Recently the on board computer readout on the Tachometer in my Tiptronic 964/C2 has become difficult to read. Is there some sort of backlight that can be replaced, or does the whole unit need to be replaced? I had suggested earlier today to contact Palo Alto Speedometer. I just heard from a friend, Bill Gregory who has one, and he offers the following. If you pull the tach out of the dash, and disconnect the cable in the back, you can remove the tach. Then there are 2-3 screws holding the back on, and removing those, you can then get at the lamps inside. 964.641.920.00 is the bulb that lights up the computer display portion of the tach.
