Hi,
I just read about 100 articles here about the immobilizer, but i'm still confused. Last week I've put a new left hand door on my 964. When connecting the connectors comming from the door, the alarm started. I was not able to stop the alarm because I didn't had the key's with me. A few days later, I tried to start the 964, but without success. The car refuse to start. Now I'm thinking that the immobilizer is causing the problem. I've removed R41 and put a wire in pin 3,6 and 7. Problem is still there. Is it possible that the immobilizer doesn't allow me to start the car? How can I see that the car has been immobilized ? How can I reset the immobilizer How can I bypass the immobilizer ? I don't have a remote to unlock the doors. Please help me, I'm worried Peter |

Could the battery have gone down in those few days (alarm drained it)? Does the battery have spark?

The car crank and the battery is in good condition.
The part number of the alarm unit is 928 618 260.03. When I remove R41 and put a wire on 3,5 and 7, I can hear the fuel pump. Every light is burning, everything looks ok, only.. the car will not start when I crank I don't have a spark on the sparks. That's why I think the the car is immobilized by the alarm. |

I had a similar problem on my 1991 C2.....
I made the seemingly unforgivable mistake of locking the car from the PASSENGER side door with the key - then trying to unlock that door. OH MY GOD! It took me almost 2 days to get past that stupid alarm and get it to start again. In the end - what worked for **me** - was to go to the passenger side door - unlock it - open it - swing it out from the rest of the car on the hinge - then to repeatedly unlock it quickly several times from the outside with the key...... Notice I did *NOT* say lock AND unlock it! Only to unlock it repeatedly. QUICKLY. QUICKLY seemed to do the trick. In about 10 seconds of utter frustration - the alarm was bypassed - and all was well. Have not had another problem with it since. You might want to give it a try - however - your mileage may vary....... I have HEARD that another way to bypass it - is to open the drivers door with a key - and while HOLDING that key in the unlock position in the door - start the car using a second key....... I suppose no self respecting car thief requires TWO keys to get the job done.... (laugh) I have not yet tried that one - so for me - it is only heresay. Hope this might help. |

Hi azcowboy
What do you mean by ""swing it out from the rest of the car on the hinge" ? Do I have to close the door with the button (manual) and unlock the door repeatedly and quickly from the outside with the key ? regards Peter |

I guess I did not express myself too well.....
Simply open the door on the passenger side. While the door is open - unlock it repeatedly with the key...... Hope this helps.... |

Hi,
I've tried this but without success. If I lock/unlock the door quickly 3 times the led on the alarm flash in another frequency. This is an alternative way of enabling the alarm.. but I don't know what's the differance. Thanks anyway. Peter |

Peter,
Don't relock..just unlock quick. "In the end - what worked for **me** - was to go to the passenger side door - unlock it - open it - swing it out from the rest of the car on the hinge - then to repeatedly unlock it quickly several times from the outside with the key...... Notice I did *NOT* say lock AND unlock it! "

Did you try the other thing I had been told about - to take two keys - unlock the drivers door with one - and while still holding that key in the full unlock position - to start the car with the other key?

Like badcar says - do NOT relock fromt he passenger side. Only UNLOCK. And you have to do it quick. For myself - I tried it several times on what I *THOUGHT* was quick - and it did not work. I finally became FRUSTRATED and ANGRY - and then just unlocked it as quick as I could - like a machine gun. (laugh) I didn't give a jumping d**n if I broke off the key in the lock I was so frustrated! (laugh) Then - suddenly - all the flashing headlights went out - and all was still and quiet..... Went to the drivers side - and it started without a care in the world.....

Yes I tried the other thing. And same negativ result.
And I've did the unlock fast, but not as fast as a machine gun ;-) I will try it again this evening. Thanks. I found someone with a Bosch tester. He is willing to connect the tester with my Porsche. If I don't have a result with the key-trick, I'll call him. thx |

Today I've tryed to read the DME with a Bosch tester... no success.
The Bosch tester was not able to communicate with the DME. I've checked all wires, connectors, powers supply's, relais.. and all connectios are good. I'm no longer suspect the alarm and I think the DME is death. Part number : 964.618.124.04 |
