Exclamation Need a connector

I have a Porsche CR-1 radio with the Blaupunkt BQA-80 amp hiding under the passenger seat. They connect to one another via an 8-pin DIN. The radio's (very short) cable terminates in a female connector, whereas the amp's (very long) cable terminates in a male connector.

Blaupunckt's technical advisor steered me to their parts & service people in the US. The parts & service people say the radio's too old for them to even know what the connector is, let alone have one to sell me.

If anyone has a dead CR-1 or CD-1, I'd dearly love to get the cable and connector from it. Hack it off at the radio (so it has at least some wire for me to solder connectors to it) and I'm a happy bunny. If you want to get all serious and dig inside the radio to remove the wires where they attach, that'd be OK, but a load of bother.

I don't have a whole lot to trade, but I will have a set of stock headlights to swap as soon as I figure out where the headlight wires run so I can replace them with 12 ga. wires when I get the H4 units installed. If that's not what you need, name your price.

I have made these cables in the past with parts from Radio Shack. Try them or other electronics parts delaers. These 5 and 8 pin connectors were also used on Alpine audio units. I might even have a bigger Alpine amp and the cable in the basement - with a rummage sale scheduled for this weekend. Are you looking for male or female pins?

How about this for a small world? We're both in Madison!

I checked Radio Shack and came up empty. I got an 8-pin DIN from the audio guy in California who claims to be a Porsche specialist, and it probably fits someone's Blaupunkt, but not mine.

What I need is the female and, if it is a molded-type connector, an inch or more of wire coming from it so I have something to solder to. Give me a shout any time.

A live Pelican right here in Madison, WI. I hope you are enjoying the heat and your AC is working! Have you noticed all the AC questions popping up on the forums? I'm glad you are from MSN - I don't have to mess around with shipping this cable and I get to see your car. Come on over and pick out the cable you need. I have multiple cables and the wiring diagrams and a whole box of vintage Alpine audio gear (I keep thinking about an '80s Porsche with a period Alpine stereo but who has the time...). I'll PM you my contact info (you might want to edit your phone number off the last post).
