Mayonnaise in my oil!!!

$hit. I noticed increased coolant use in my '99 996 , 27K mile daily driver. changed oil and noticed a blob of whitish goo in the oil filler neck. Car runs great. No noticeable problems. Check engine light on but reader codes for oxygen sensor.

How screwed am I? Any scenario here other than blown head gasket or cracked case (double $hit).

I knew I was gonna get it when I found out the extended warranty was up!!!

could be just the usual condensation, same thing happens in air cooled.

I used to get that a little on my 86 911 that was using dino oil (non synthetic) but the 993 that I use Mobile 1 with has never experienced this....could be a non-synthetic thing?

You are in a colder climate - probably just normal condensation.

Drive the car a bit more often, make sure you get the car warmed up completely.

With increased coolant use i would be checking thigs out. You will want to know where the coolant is going wether it is going into the engine or not. If it is going into the engine you have a chance for a minor fix. If it is going into the engine and you wait, you will have a failure. Kevin

There is no such thing as coolant use. Coolant is in a sealed system. If it is "used" up, it leaks somewhere. Best case scenario is to the outside, worst is into your engine oil.

You will get a clear answer if you send the oil out to have it analyzed. The lab will tell you if you have antifreeze in your oil.

Could coolant be leaking into the engine from the water pump? I have not noticed any leaking coolant on the ground or leaking onto the heat exchangers. I don't think the oil/water intercooler is leaking because I would probably see oil in the coolant-and I don't.
I have added about 2 quarts of coolant over the past two months. The condensation could be due to the short trip nature of my use for this car. But this is exactly why I bought a water-cooled 996 vs my '83 for commute duties, and I had'nt noticed condensate in the oil filler previously.

I have an appointment with Helmut and Vito (local foreign specialist I have used many times) next Monday. Wish me luck.
