Need info about 996 engines.....

I was at metal scrap yard weighing my car 2450 lbs.. Guy told me to go see mechanic as they have a Porsche engine in a shed. Turns out to be a 996 3.4L. "I think it was running when removed from wreck". "I think they'll sell it for a couple of hundred"
Can this fit in my 1984 911?
What's it worth for resale or parts?
Also looks like front wheel drive case? Or rear differental?

Engine # is 9961041391R3.4L
# on Case 70D0263921G and also decal that has 4WD 1.211 ratio.
Think case is Porsche part?

Any info on this would be helpful. Thanks

It's worth a lot more than a couple hundred, that's for sure.

Could it fit in your car? Yes. Should you do it? No - you'd have to figure out new mounting, Water cooling, etc. Just like your car, there are no rear differentials (standard transaxle), but if it came off a C4, it would have a front differential. Which then requires high pressure hydraulics...

To which board to you want me to move this post?
